WHO ARE WE?

TThe indigenous Peoples and Sustainable development is being executed thanks to the agreement between the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and the University of Saskatchewan from Canada. In the first phase, the principal objective was to foment the development in the indigenous communities through the formation of young people from different peoples, so when they finish their studies they would come back as professionals committed with their regions, and bring about a better quality of life for their people, under the premises of cultural identity conservation’s, through their ancient knowledge and with the perspective of giving sustainable development to their biological diversity.
In this decentralize second phase, we extend our action field to the Andean region, so that new indigenous professionals- Andean and Amazonian- have the opportunity of developing their new potentialities.
Through their investigation work related to the sustainable development of their indigenous communities; and in this way they can become representatives of their people, before the instances of power and decision of the central government. Likewise, we look to bring about the conservation and spreading of the indigenous languages of our country; selecting students with the mastery of their indigenous language, to teach others and design didactic material in the Linguistic Centre of the Project. In the same way, we believe important to make of public knowledge subjects that are of interest for the development of the Amazon and Andean regions, training indigenous students, teachers, and general public, by means of workshops and seminars that generate proposals to benefit the indigenous communities of Peru. |
